Scope and content
The holdings 902, previously department 2 no. 1-307, comprise the files of the office of the Lord Mayor Dr. h.c. Konrad Adenauer from 1917 - 1933. A separate registry of the Lord Mayor's office was not established until 1917 by Lord Mayor Adenauer with the designation Office G. Until then, the files processed by the Lord Mayor were immediately returned to the relevant offices to remain. Also in the period since 1917, special cases of the offices have been dealt with by the Lord Mayor; these procedures have then also been returned to the offices to remain as in the past. The files of Lord Mayor Adenauer have been arranged according to two different registry plans. The 1917-1927 plan is based on the individual institutions in which the Lord Mayor held office and on the political territorial structure of the state. In the individual file groups, the files are numbered consecutively. The plan of 1927-1933 is based only on the territorial division of the state, the files in it designated in the decimal system. When the Lord Mayor's office in the archives was reorganized as Department 2 in July 1948, both registries were united to see the old and new designations from the concordance with the file number. The files of the successors from 1933, Dr. Riesen, Dr. Schmidt, Dr. Winkelkemper, were destroyed in the town hall fire on 29 June 1943. The files created after the fire until 1945 were housed in the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum and destroyed during the war. The find book was created by Steinhofer.
