      Als Ponape-Provisorium wird die Briefmarke Karolinen MiNr. 7 mit (violett)schwarzem Handstempelaufdruck der neuen Wertstufe 5 Pfennig bezeichnet. Danebengesetzt wurde das 2. Dienstsiegel ("KAROLINEN" länger als "PONAPE"). Im MICHEL-Katalog steht dazu der folgender Eintrag: "Infolge des starken Verbrauchs von 5-Pf-Marken anlässlich eines Besuchs der deutschen Kriegsschiffe 'Scharnhorst' und 'Nürnberg' gingen angeblich die Bestände zu Ende, so dass der Postagent 500 Stück 3-Pf-Marken mit Aufdruck '5 Pf' versah und als solche ausgab. Ein Teil der Auflage soll beim Ponape-Aufstand Ende 1910 verlorengegangen sein."
