Under the leadership of the State Council of Thuringia, the state government worked from 1920 on with seven departments, including Department VI Economics. On December 3, 1920, the Ministry of Economics was formed from this department, which operated until June 12, 1945. In the meantime, it operated as the Ministry of the Interior and Economy (8 March 1924 - 3 November 1928), which reflects the performance of tasks in the fields of agriculture and forestry, price formation and price monitoring, cultural building administration, water management and transport, housing and settlement, administration of state land, labour administration, mining, energy management, industry and trade.
