East Africa. 1 map and 2 sections. (1) 'Map showing the Uganda railway': showing the railway route between Mombasa and Port Florence (now Kisumu), and the steamer route across Lake Victoria to Entebbe and Kampala, with stations, lengths inspected and ruling gradients; also showing waterways and the boundary between British East Africa (now Kenya) and German East Africa (now Tanzania). Key to stations. Scale: 1:1,584,000. (2-3) 'Uganda railway. Longitudinal section': on 2 sheets, showing the route between (2) Mombasa and Nairobi; (3) Nairobi and Port Florence. Item 2 damaged: a horizontal strip is missing. Horizontal scale: 1 inch to 12.5 miles [1:792,000]; vertical scale: 1 inch to 600 feet [1:7,200]. All items lithographed by Harrison and Sons, St Martin's Lane; printed 1904. Dimensions: (1) 43 cm x 68 cm; (2) 41 cm x 68 cm; (3) 41 cm x 57 cm. Originally illustrating the print of a letter from Major J W Pringle, Royal Engineers, Government Inspecting Officer of Railways, 1 October 1903.
