Content and Evaluation The R e i c h s k o l o n i a l b e n t (RKB), not a division of the NSDAP, but a collection basin of all associations previously active in colonial affairs, existed between 1936 and 1943. The documents of the RKB - Gauverband Württemberg - Hohenzollern, which had been captured by the US military at the end of 1942 and had some 49,000 members, were transferred to the Ludwigsburg State Archives after the political cleansing had been completed. There it forms its own collection under the signature PL 520, which was ordered and recorded by Dr. Carl-Jochen Müller between May 2004 and February 2007 in the course of a project financed by the Stiftung Kulturgut for the indexing of the holdings group PL 501-523.

The R e i c h s k o l o n i a l b e n t (RKB) was a collection organization in which all colonial organizations were combined from 1933 or 1936 to 1943. In order to keep the "colonial question" open, the RKB organized lectures and exhibitions and issued publications. Since the recovery of the former colonies was not one of the aims of the German war, the Nazi state gradually withdrew the financial subsidies from the RKB from 1939 at the latest; in 1943 the R e i c h s k o l o n i a l b u n d was dissolved and the assets transferred to the NSDAP.The holdings in the Landesarchiv are merely a splinter of the tradition; the files come from the collections of the former American Berlin Document Center (BDC) and were transferred from the Federal Archives to the Landesarchiv Berlin: Local groups Berlin-Steglitz and Berlin-Köpenick.indexed: 2 [AE] 0.15 [lfm].Duration: 1937 - 1942.Use: database, index.references: BA NS 52 Colonial Political Office of the NSDAP.

Editing note: Findbuch (1953) Inventory description: Archivische Bewertung und Bearbeitung It is a confirmed fact that an archive was established in the D e u t s c h e K o l o n i a l g e s c h e l l s c h a f t . The Colonial Economic Archive, which was established at the Berlin Central Office in 1909, already had records of more than 600 colonial enterprises in its founding year. Due to a lack of documents, it is not possible to determine when the documents were transferred from these archives or the registries to the Reichsarchiv. For the period of the Second World War it can be assumed that the holdings, together with other holdings of the Reichsarchiv, were outsourced and taken over by the German Central Archive Potsdam (later the Central State Archive Potsdam) after 1945. Due to the lack of old finding aids, no information can be given on war-related outsourcing losses. The first processing of the holdings was already carried out at the Central State Archives in Potsdam. In the holdings of the D e u t s c h e K o l o n i a l s c h e G e l l l s c h a f t , the majority of the traditional file titles were newly created and partly supplemented by notes on contents. In addition to the already existing series and volume sequences, additional archival ones were added where appropriate. Since the already existing thread-stitching had predetermined the creation and delimitation of files, especially of the volumes of the Deutsche Kolonialgesellschaft holdings, temporal overlaps in the series and volume sequences could not be avoided. The transfer of the data records of the D e u t s c h e K o l o n i a l g e s e l l s c h a f t to the database took place in 2003.
