Preliminary remark: This collection contains documents of the Württemberg Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Württemberg legations in Florence and Rome. Only a small part of these documents is related to the legation to the Kingdom of Italy, but mainly to the legation to the Papal States, to which the city of Rome belonged until 1870. A more comprehensive historical account of the two legations and the Württemberg consulate in Rome is contained in the preliminary remarks to the holdings E 70 d (Württemberg legation in Italy) and E 70 r (Württemberg consulate in Rome), which form the counter tradition. The holdings were formed by Kurt Hochstuhl from the relevant documents of the earlier holdings E 70 and E 73, who also edited the title recordings.
