Preliminary remark: The present collection mainly contains documents from the former "Impressa" section, which were originally drawn on police matters. It then became apparent, however, that in most cases the issue was not censorship matters, but the reception and, if necessary, forwarding of printed publications from other German states or from abroad. Due to the large number of such files, it was recommended to create a separate collection based on the E 5 collection (Royal Cabinet I: submissions of writings and art objects). The documents relating to censorship matters, depending on their provenance, are contained in the holdings E 40/54 (Ministry of Foreign Affairs relating to police matters) and E 63/3 (Censorship Commission). Documents on the collections of documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were drawn to fonds E 40/31. The inventory and indexing of the documents was carried out in autumn 2009 by the undersigned on the basis of the title recordings made by Kurt Hochstuhl in the 1990s.
