Bayerische diplomatische Vertreter lassen sich an der Kurie bis zum Beginn des 17. Jahrhunderts zurückverfolgen. Demgemäß reichen auch die Akten der bayerischen Vertretung beim päpstlichen Stuhl bruchstückweise bis zum Jahre 1606 zurück. Von geschlossenen Beständen kann man freilich erst seit der Amtszeit des Gesandten Marchese dAntici sprechen, der ab 1769 Vertreter der Kurpfalz, sodann des Herzogtums Zweibrücken und seit 1776 auch von Kurbayern in Rom war. Nach der fluchtartigen Aufgabe des Gesandtenpostens durch dAntici im Jahre 1798 anlässlich der Besetzung Roms durch die französischen Truppen war Kurpfalzbayern ohne diplomatischen Vertreter in Rom. Erst zu Ende des Jahres 1803 wurde wieder eine bayerische Vertretung eingerichtet, die zunächst die Bezeichnung "Churpfalzbaierische Mission in Rom" führte. Infolge der Einverleibung des Kirchenstaats in das französische Empire durch Napoleon I. war sie in der Zeit von 1810-1815 abermals unterbrochen. Seit der Neubeglaubigung des Gesandten Freiherrn von Haeffelin im August 1815 bestand sie ohne Unterbrechung fort bis zu ihrer Aufhebung am 30. Juni 1934, die durch die nationalsozialistische Reichsregierung aufgrund des Gesetzes über den Neuaufbau des Reiches von 30. Januar 1934 erfolgte. Der Name der Gesandtschaft, der nach der Erhebung Bayerns zum Königreich im Jahre 1806 zunächst "Bayerische Gesandtschaft in Rom" lautete, wurde nach der Einverleibung Roms in das Königreich Italien im Jahre 1870 in "Bayerische Gesandtschaft beim päpstlichen Stuhl" umgewandelt. Seit 31. Mai 1930 lautete die amtliche Bezeichnung in Angleichung an die Namensführung der übrigen bei der Kurie beglaubigten diplomatischen Vertretungen "Bayerische Gesandtschaft beim Heiligen Stuhl". Während der Unterbrechung der offiziellen diplomatischen Beziehungen zwischen Bayern und dem päpstlichen Stuhl in den Jahren 1798-1803 und 1810-1815 waren für den bayerischen Hof Agenten in Rom tätig. Bei der Erkrankung des Gesandten Freiherrn von Guttenberg im Jahre 1909 übernahm der preußische Gesandte beim päpstlichen Stuhl in der Zeit vom 21. April bis 27. Oktober die vertretungsweise Führung der Geschäfte der bayerischen Gesandtschaft. Durch den Kriegseintritt Italiens im Mai 1915 war der Gesandte genötigt, den Sitz der Gesandtschaft von Rom nach Lugano in der neutralen Schweiz zu verlegen. Erst zur Jahreswende 1919/1920 erfolgte die Rückverlegung der Gesandtschaft nach Rom. Der bayerische Gesandte beim päpstlichen Stuhl vertrat verschiedentlich auch die Interessen von Staaten, die keinen eigenen diplomatischen Vertreter dort beglaubigt hatten, so die von Württemberg und Baden in der Zeit um 1808, von Griechenland nach der Errichtung eines selbstständigen Königreichs bis zur Entsendung eines eigenen Gesandten, ferner in der 2. Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts hin und wieder die Belange des Königreichs Sachsen. Demgemäß finden sich einschlägige Vorgänge in den Beständen der bayerischen Gesandtschaften. Da sie zumeist mit den bayerischen Akten unmittelbar zusammenhängen, konnte eine Aussonderung der betreffenden Stücke nicht durchgeführt werden. Auch mit den Angelegenheiten des souveränen Malteser-Ordens, mit dem Bayern keine eigenen diplomatischen Vertreter austauschte, wurde die Gesandtschaft beim päpstlichen Stuhl betraut. In der Zeit von Ende Juni 1851 bis 1. Dezember 1865 war der bayerische Gesandte in Rom gleichzeitig an den Höfen von Turin und Neapel beglaubigt. Soweit es ohne Zerreißung der Zusammenhänge geschehen konnte, wurden die Registraturen gesondert. Bei gemeinsam behandelten Angelegenheiten sind stets auch die Bestände dieser beiden Gesandtschaften heranzuziehen. Die Akten der Gesandtschaft in Rom aus der Zeit bis 1798 gehörten bisher zum Bestand Kasten schwarz des Geheimen Staatsarchivs und umfassten vornehmlich Kasten schwarz 509 und 510. Der Bestand der Jahre 1803-1934 war bislang überhaupt nur in seinem älteren Teil, den sogenannten Haeffelinschen Akten (Kasten grün 33-38), grob geordnet. Diese stammten von einer Ministerialabgabe des Jahres 1906. Der größere Teil der Gesandtschaftsregistratur kam kurz vor Aufhebung der Gesandtschaft im Juni 1934 als amtlich versiegeltes Gesandtschaftsgut unmittelbar von Rom nach München an das Geheime Staatsarchiv. Ein paar Akten wurden im Juli 1936 noch nachträglich von der Bayerischen Staatskanzlei dem Geheimen Staatsarchiv zugewiesen. Der gesamte Bestand wurde nunmehr nach den in der "Archivalischen Zeitschrift" Band 46 (1950) dargelegten Richtlinien neu geordnet. Fehlende Stücke wurden kaum festgestellt, der äußere Zustand war bis auf einige wenige Stücke gut. Vernichtet wurden nur Blätter, aus denen weder der sachliche Inhalt noch der Name der behandelten Person erkennbar war, ferner die Ein- und Auslaufstagebücher (Journale). Dem Missstand, dass mehrmals in Schreiben des Gesandten verschiedene Fälle behandelt wurden, wurde durch entsprechende Verweise zu begegnen versucht. Bei den Zeitungsausschnitten, die namentlich von den beiden letzten Gesandten in größeren Umfang als Unterlagen für ihre Berichte gesammelt wurden, finden sich vornehmlich folgende Abkürzungen: BK = Bayerischer Kurier Corr = Corriere dItalia KV = Kölnische Volkszeitung KZ = Kölnische Zeitung M = Messaggero MNN = Münchner Neueste Nachrichten OR = LOsservatore Romano T = Tribuna VB = Völkischer Beobachter Um das Personenverzeichnis nicht zu überfüllen, wurden hektographierte Listen französischer kriegsgefangener Offiziere in Bayern der Jahre 1870/71 (Nr. 2753) nicht aufgenommen. Die Objekte mit den Signaturen 3001-3010 wurden ebenfalls der Gesandtschaftsregistratur aus dem Bestand Kasten schwarz entnommen. Sie sind im Findbuch nur sehr allgemein erschlossen. Allerdings liegt im Repertorienzimmer ein detaillierter Ergänzungsband zu diesen Akten vor, der insbesondere Kopien von Schlagwortverzeichnissen und Betreffsregistern enthält, die Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts angelegt wurden. Sie stammen aus dem Akt Gesandtschaft Päpstlicher Stuhl 485 mit dem Betreff "Registraturverzeichnis der Gesandtschaft".

Best. 1825 contains files from the estate of Peter Faecke (born 1940) - writer, editor, composer, journalist, reporter, screenwriter, editor and publisher - which form the basis of his work as an author, especially manuscripts and material collections. The estate covers a term from 1961 to 2010.I. Takeover and useThe Peter Faecke of Cologne, who was elected, handed over his estate together with the list of papers to the Historical Archive of the City of Cologne on 29 November 2009. This was acquired under inventory number 2009/52. On 30.06.2010 he added further documents, which were registered under the access number 2010/20. Further taxes remain to be seen. In the tectonics of the archives, the estate is classified under the inventory number 1825 in the department of bequests and collections. six moving boxes filled with standing files, which contained perforated and stapled documents, were taken over. The files showed only minimal damage such as slight wrinkles, compression and dusting. After order and distortion at the end of 2011, the material worthy of archiving was removed from the standing files, cleaned, demetallized, re-bedded for archiving purposes and provided with the assigned signatures. The formulation deliberately did not distinguish between manuscripts and typoscripts in the literal sense of the word, but referred to any draft text or concept, whether handwritten or typewritten, as manuscripts. Finally, cross-continuance indexes of objects, locations and persons were carried out and the inventory information was displayed on the meta level. BiographyPeter Faecke was born on 3 October 1940 in Grundwald in Silesia. In the course of his expulsion from his homeland, the family moved to Hannoversch Münden in Lower Saxony in 1946. From 1961 to 1965 he studied Romance Languages, German and Philosophy in Göttingen, Berlin, Hamburg and Paris. In 1965 Faecke became the youngest editor to date of Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne and remained loyal to WDR until 1990 as an editor in the Department of Culture and Science. His main role was that of rapporteur on Third World culture. He was significantly involved in the development and expansion of the literary program in radio at all. From 1982 to 1985, he also managed a media development project for German Development Aid in Peru, which was intended to serve the expansion of the state broadcasting system there, but had to be discontinued prematurely due to a worsening civil war. Peter Faecke also worked as a novelist during his studies and continues to do so successfully today. Since 1969 he has been a member of the Writers' Association P.E.N. Centre Germany and the Association of German Writers (VS). With the founding of his publishing house Edition Köln in 2002/2003, Faecke established himself as a publisher of German and international fiction, crime literature and non-fiction. Inventory description: On 1 May 1936, under Lieutenant General Theisen, the inspector of the Nebeltruppe und Gasabwehr was set up. Thus the existing Group IV of Artillery Inspection was transferred to the newly created inspection, which was at the same time assigned to the Army Gas Protection School. According to the regulations of 17 March 1936 (see the General Military Notices in inventory RHD 2), several tasks were stipulated for the inspection of the smoke troops and for gas defence: 1. training in gas defence (including detoxification), its theoretical and practical promotion in all weapon categories, preparation of training regulations, 2. training in the use of artificial smoke, 3. special training of the smoke troop and its tactical use, 4. equipping the army with gas protection and smoke means. For three years Lieutenant General Edgar Theißen was responsible for the fog troops and gas defence, followed by Major General Friedrich von Tempelhoff from 1939-1941, Lieutenant General Erwin Leister from 1942-1944 and Major General Johann-Albrecht von Blücher from 1944-1945. The chamber was erected on 13.4.1863 for the area of the former district of Dortmund. The original district did not change its external borders until 1913. The district of Dortmund was divided into the city district of Dortmund (enlarged by incorporation) and the districts of Hörde and Dortmund. In 1913 the chamber district was extended to the district of Hamm (from 1930 the district of Unna). In 1917 the independent town of Hamm was added. With the territorial reform of the years 1926-1929 the offices Sodingen (today town Herne) and Annen (town Witten) left the chamber district. From 1.1.1930, the chamber district comprised the city districts of Dortmund, Castrop-Rauxel, Lünen and Hamm, the district of Unna as well as the city of Schwerte and the Westhofen office from the district of Iserlohn. This district was valid until 31.12.1974 with one exception: in 1944/45 Schwerte was briefly assigned to the district of the Iserlohn office at the Chamber of Hagen. Since the municipal reorganization in 1975, the chamber district comprises the city districts of Dortmund and Hamm as well as the district of Unna. Castrop-Rauxel retired, the municipalities Werne, Selm and the new districts of the cities Hamm and Schwerte were added. In 1935 the IHK Dortmund became the seat of the Chamber of Commerce for Westphalia and Lippe in the course of the development of the commercial economy. Although the Chamber of Commerce was theoretically assigned numerous tasks as a subdivision of the Reich Chamber of Commerce, the independence of the individual Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the Chambers of Crafts was de facto preserved. In 1937 the Chamber of Commerce for Westphalia and Lippe was subdivided into the departments IHKn, Chambers of Crafts, Industrial Department, Trade Department, District Compensation Office for Public Contracts, Honorary Courts of Commerce and Industry. Each of the departments had its own advisory boards. In the course of the war preparations and during the war, the Economic Chamber (and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry) were given tasks within the framework of management. In 1942, chambers of commerce were created analogous to the party organization of the NSDAP. The IHKs finally lost their self-administration tasks. Dortmund became the seat of the Gauwirtschaftskammer Westfalen-Süd [Westphalia South Chamber of Commerce] [for the government district of Arnsberg]. In addition to the chambers of industry and commerce, the regional trade associations were also included. According to the inventory delimitation in the Hof City Archives, newspapers are continuous collections that appear at least every fortnight. In the case of periodicals that appear less frequently than every fortnight, they are assigned to inventory Z if a periodical has a newspaper-like character in terms of its appearance (newsprint) or content (topicality). In cases of doubt, the finding aids of the reference library series (4° F, 8° F; see OPAC of the Hof University of Applied Sciences) should be used to determine whether a periodical is available in the Hof City Archives. The inventory signature there was 61 Ta 1. With the transfer to the Federal Archives, the inventory signature was changed to R 8045. Archival evaluation and processing In the course of processing the inventory, a finding aid book was created in the Central State Archives, on the basis of which the present finding aid book on the BASYS-2b database was compiled. The existing classification was adopted, and series and tape sequences were created. During the inspection of the files some editorial and contentwise revisions were made at the data records already existing in BASYS-2b. There were no cassations or additions. History of the Inventory Designer: Alfred Rosenberg, who had been one of Adolf Hitler's close collaborators since the beginnings of the National Socialist movement, united - especially since 1929/30 - a wealth of political offices and functions in his hand. In order to be able to carry out all the tasks assigned to him, Rosenberg, since his appointment as head of the Foreign Policy Office of the NSDAP (APA) in April 1933, made use of a private secretariat headed by Thilo von Trotha (b. 12.04.1909, d. 24.02.1938), who was also responsible for the North Division of the APA. In April 1934, by order of the Reich Treasurer, von Trothas, initially only volunteered for Rosenberg, was converted into a full-time regular employment relationship with Rosenberg as Reichsleiter of the NSDAP. As private secretary, he was responsible for processing all correspondence that Rosenberg had to conduct personally as head of the APA, but also as Reichsführer of the Kampfbund für deutsche Kultur (KfdK) and as main editor of the "Völkischer Beobachters" (VB). In January 1934, Rosenberg was appointed the Führer's representative for monitoring the entire spiritual and ideological training and education of the NSDAP. Probably because of this new expansion of his duties, on 26 April 1934 Rosenberg ordered the conversion of his private secretariat into a "Rosenberg Chancellery". It continued to be under the direction of Thilo von Trothas, but was now assigned a clearly defined scope of duties: From now on, the Rosenberg Chancellery was responsible for all correspondence conducted by Rosenberg himself within the scope of duties of the APA, the KfdK and other ideological offices as well as for the "NS-Monatshefte", the appointment calendar and the visit regulations of the Reichsleiter. The firm had its own "archive" whose task it was to collect information material and newspaper clippings about Rosenberg. The DBFU was one of the administrators. On 15 August 1937, Rosenberg appointed SA-Sturmbannführer Dr. Werner Koeppen (born 26.09.1910) as his aide. After the death of Trothas in February 1938, Koeppen took over the management of the office and retained it - with temporary interruptions due to military service - until 1945. In August 1941 he was appointed by Rosenberg as his personal adviser and worked for a time as a liaison officer in the Führer's headquarters. During his absence Amandus Langer, whom Rosenberg had appointed as his adjutant in 1941, represented him in the management of the office. Despite some losses during the heavy bombing raids in November 1943, most of the files of the Rosenberg office seem to have been preserved. The traditional Rosenberg documents (from the state and party areas) were brought to Nuremberg after the end of the war in order to be evaluated for the Allied trials against the war criminals. In the beginning, the documents that could be used as supporting documents were taken from the files, later they were left in them and were content with photocopies. The originals used are likely to be in Washington today, along with other trial documents. The documents collected in Nuremberg were evaluated by various foreign institutions for the creation of their own collections after the processes had been completed. The Centre de Documentation Juive Contemporaine (CDJC) in Paris is particularly worthy of mention here. Today, the "Collection Rosenberg" contains a collection of approximately 1,100 documents (mostly from the provenance office of Rosenberg, but also from other Rosenberg offices). Receipts for the individual documents taken from the CDJC are still in the files that have been transferred to the Federal Archives. Further records of Rosenberg's departments can be found at the Nederlands Instituut voor Oorlogsdokumentatie (NIOD), Amsterdam, and at the Yivo-Institute for Jewish Research in New York. Books and journals from Rosenberg's departments are listed in the Hoover Institute and Library and in the Library of Congress. Documents from Rosenberg offices also reached archives of the former Soviet Union. An extensive collection (above all of the provenance ERR) is today kept in the Tsentral`nyi derzhavnyi arhiv vyshchykh orhaniv vlady ta upravlinnia Ukraïny (TsDAVO Ukraïny) in Kiev, further files (above all of the provenance foreign policy office) in the Rossiiskii gosudarstvennyi voennyi arkhiv (RGVA) in Moscow. Most of the Rosenberg files collected in Nuremberg were brought to Alexandria/Va. and partly filmed there. In March 1963, this file complex, known as Record Group 1008/Reichsministerium für die besetzten Ostgebiete, was transferred from the USA to the Federal Archives in the course of the file repatriation, where it was divided into provenances in autumn 1963. The files from this return of files to the provenance of "Kanzlei Rosenberg" form the main part of the present collection. Some volumes were added which had been transferred to the Nuremberg State Archives and to the Federal Archives in 1955, as well as several volumes from various American file returns. Further additions were made by one volume each from the Central State Archive of the GDR (62 Ka 2/1) and from the so-called "NS Archive of the Ministry for State Security of the GDR" (ZA VI 6322). Archival processing The majority of the documents had been deposited in the Federal Archives in their original registry context. Individual documents, processes detached from their context as well as volumes in disorder had to be rearranged. The order and distortion corresponded to the original registry context. A complete reorganisation of the stock from a factual point of view would have facilitated its use, but did not appear to be justified from the point of view of labour economics. Only double copies were collected in the manuscript series. The preliminary finding aid for the stock was produced by Mrs. Köhne in 1966. Characterisation of the contents: The collection of manuscripts and newspaper clippings provides a fairly comprehensive picture of Rosenberg's personality from about 1930 to 1945. Due to the fact that the Chancellery was responsible for almost all of Rosenberg's departments, the collection also contains essential supplementary material on the activities of the departments subordinated to Rosenberg; only the department of the Reich Ministry of the Occupied Eastern Territories, whose affairs Rosenberg had dealt with primarily by its ministerial office, is to be excluded. The filing of the documents took place largely in chronological series, at most separately into the areas VB, KfdK and APA, later also according to correspondence partners.
