            Wolfgang Zielke, Consul 1967-1969 and Head of the Consulate General of the German Democratic Republic in Tanzania 1977-1979, bequeathed his collection of books on Africa's contemporary history to the ZMO in 2012. From 1952 to 1955, Wolfgang Zielke had studied foreign policy at the Academy of Political and Legal Sciences in Potsdam-Babelsberg. He then worked in the GDR Foreign Ministry as an attaché at the embassy in North Korea, as embassy secretary in the People's Republic of China, Uganda, Ghana, as a legation counsellor and head of the trade mission in Gambia. After the fall of communism, he finally worked as an education officer for African affairs in the social sector until 2003. Wolfgang Zielke is a member of the Association for International Law and Politics (Author: Leibniz-Zentrum Moderner Orient, Bibliothek, Geisteswissenschaftliche Zentren Berlin e.V.).

Extensive correspondence is available. Transcriptions of some pieces in Fischer (1910), Lachmann (1929c) and Reinhard (1939, 1956c). A manuscript by Marie Dubois-Reymond "Diaries on Chinese Music", 1908 - 11, is said to exist (Walravens 2001:349).

            The archive of the Mission in China for the period 1872-1954 contains correspondence and documents relating to the organization. There are also documents on the Boxing Revolution, the international settlements and courts, internal politics, international relations and political affairs. There are also documents on Dutch nationals of Chinese origin, treaties and (customs) agreements, hydraulic engineering and harbour works in China, railways, shipping and aviation, and opium issues. There are also documents on refrigeration and other Indian-Chinese issues (including monthly reports from the Dutch-Indian General Intelligence Service), political issues in Indo-China and the Far East and the course of the Second World War (including documents on Japanese war crimes). There is also an archive on German (and Austro-Hungarian) advocacy, a secret archive, documentation (including a number of cards) and the deposited archive of the military attaché in Chunking,
