            Administrative history: After the first consul Theodor Edmund Vidal followed in 1839 his brother Camille Vidal as consul general for Dutch India. His successors were Christian Martin Metzendorf (1846-1856), Herman Christoph Wilmans (1856-1860), William Ebbs (1860-1862) and Wilhelm Frederick Mathieu (1862-1867).
