Foreword: The Tax Directorate was removed from the area of responsibility of the District Directorates by ordinance of 3 March 1826 on the administration of direct and indirect levies (cf. volume 313). After Baden joined the Zollverein, the ordinance of 16.07.1835 established an independent Customs Directorate, which was initially only a section of the Tax Directorate. The year 1909 finally brought the reunification of the two directorates under the name Customs and Tax Directorate.
